For more than 25 years I have practiced as a clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist, first in a hospital setting and, since 1984, in my own practice, Neuro-Psychology Associates of Western Massachusetts. Over the years, my practice has grown in size and scope and now also includes a center specifically designed to assess Attention Deficit Disorders. In addition, in 1989, I cofounded the MVA Center for Rehabilitation, a multidisciplinary medical rehabilitation program that exclusively treats people who have been injured in motor vehicle accidents. Since 1998 I have been the CEO of this practice, whose doctors and therapists treat more than 1200 patients a year using a comprehensive model of medical care that has become the standard of practice in this area.
My clinical work brings me a diverse and rich population of patients. Every year, I evaluate or supervise the evaluation of more than 200 patients with mild head injury and another 300 patients with dementias of various types, such as Alzheimer's Disease. We currently see about 250 ADHD patients every year in our ADD Center as well. Physicians and neurologists refer patients with multiple sclerosis, seizure disorders, histories of tumor excisions, strokes, and psychiatric conditions (particularly depression and anxiety disorders) for evaluation and treatment recommendations.
Because of my immersion in clinical practice, I am also especially able to provide expert forensic services for both plaintiff and defense counsel. As a record reviewer, I see cases from disability insurers who are looking for a second opinion on their records or a review of the evaluations previously performed by other clinicians. I provide expert testimony for patients in my clinical practice who later present claims for compensation in court. In other cases, I work for defendants who need to effectively evaluate cognitive or emotional claims arising from auto accidents, slips and falls, or exposure to chemicals. A small percentage of my practice has involved sexual harassment and discrimination issues, on both plaintiff and defendant referrals.
Since 1989, I have been Board Certified as a Clinical Neuropsychologist through the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology and the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP-CN). Referral sources who have called upon board certified neuropsychologists typically recognize the consistently high level of sophistication and expertise held by board members. I am licensed in Massachusetts as a psychologist and a health services provider. I hold affiliate member privileges on the medical staffs of the three largest area hospitals.
As a forensic psychologist I have testified in a variety of settings, including Federal District Court, Massachusetts district courts and superior courts, the Massachusetts Committee Against Discrimination (MCAD) hearings, workers compensation hearings (Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York), and in arbitrations and mediations. I have testified for both plaintiff and defendant in civil matters. I have also performed a number of criminal evaluations for both prosecution and defense and have testified for the defense. A listing of my last four years of appearances is available upon request.
